March 2022

BSF Study Update

In the wake of unveiling the 2022-23 study, People of the Promise: Kingdom Divided, a natural and understandable question is, “What comes next?” So glad you asked! We are excited to announce that the 2023-24 study will be The Gospel of John

The choice of this well-loved study accomplishes our desire to alternate between Old Testament and New Testament studies. Additionally, this decision allows the Children’s Division to continue fine-tuning the School Program redesign utilizing a powerful and familiar book. Please pray for the Content Division as they launch the development process for John.

Another emerging question is, “Will a study book be available for Kingdom Divided?” The answer is a resounding, “Yes!” The proven demand for last year’s Matthew books and T-shirts provided a way forward. Kingdom Divided spiral-bound books and T-shirts will be available for order by June through the BSF store. Digital books and individual lessons will continue to be available for download on mybsf.org and bsfonline.org.

Get Ready for Launch: Kingdom Divided

Get excited! This year our annual Leader Event to start our study year will be Launch: Kingdom Divided. This event will unite, inspire, and mobilize our global leadership on a local level and include:

  • A vision video from our Executive Director, Hollie Roberts
  • An introduction to our NEW study: People of the Promise: Kingdom Divided
  • Role-specific training in small groups (ALs, CLs, GLs, OGLs)
  • Opportunities to discuss, share, and pray

Note: Your local Launch: Kingdom Divided will replace Summit this year.

Launch is a three-hour local or online event for all leadership positions (Class Staff and leaders) held before and separate from your first Leader’s Meeting (LM). Keep these things in mind as your class plans for your local Launch

  • Choose a location with no associated costs.
  • Follow local COVID guidelines to determine if your meeting should be online or in-person.
  • Consider whether you will host the full three-hour event or a 90-minute event if fellowship and video viewing occur separately from the Launch meeting.
  • Watch for the Launch materials in upcoming months.

We are excited to launch People of the Promise: Kingdom Divided together!

Note: This local Launch event is separate from Launch 2022 in June for CS-SP, AP, TL, OT, and D-OT.

Prayer Requests

Praise God for:

  • His protection and constant presence with leaders and class members of both Children’s Programs.
  • Creating excitement in SP leaders to learn new methods for the redesign of the program.
  • Growth in online SPs in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
  • Preschool videos created in 7 different languages for the study of Matthew.
  • Preschool videos on YouTube average 3,800 views per week.

Pray for:

  • Wisdom for making Preschool videos in more languages available to a broader audience.
  • Increased availability and discernment for the small group of SP leaders participating in a test to refine resources for online CLs.
  • God’s inspiration for creating training materials for the upcoming study year.

Pray for:

  • God’s provision for leadership retention as well as leadership needs in every class.
  • Strategies for stressed and stretched TL’s/D-OTs to recruit and interview potential leaders, and for quick “yes” answers to God’s call.
  • AP and Class Staff to see opportunities for reconciliation and restoration as a blessing to grow spiritually.
  • The leaders God is calling to serve next year to be identified and raised up for His glory.
  • God to use the redesign of the School Program to revitalize struggling programs while equipping all for further growth.
  • Energy and excitement to serve and lead classes.
  • God to overcome the COVID-related backlogs on visas for our international SPCSs, AP, OAP, TLs, OTs, and D-OTs who need a visa to attend Launch 2022

        NEW Mybsf.org

        New Improvements to Mybsf.org!

Mybsf.org improvements are coming in late April to help classes move toward the next study – People of the Promise: Kingdom Divided. Key functionality will include:

        • Assigning the Internal Auditor Role, providing a summary view of financial data, and the ability to enter the ICQ into mybsf.org.
        • Ability to designate a meeting as online, in-person, or online and in-person.
        • Pre-registration of preschool-age children and students using the new Parental Consent Child Registration form electronically or in print.
        • Self-registration for adults.

Additional information and useful helps will be available to assist with this release in April.

Where is My Online Giving Report?

The monthly Online Giving information for your class is now displayed only on the Transactions page in mybsf. There is no longer a separate report to provide to the Class Treasurer.

        CA Responsibilities and Mybsf.org

Consider looking for opportunities to serve your class members and leaders in new ways due to the transition to mybsf.org. Watch The Voyage and The Vision videos posted in your Resource Library for ideas on new ways to serve and care for those coming to your BSF class!

        Coming Soon in Mybsf.org

A Phase 3 release of Mybsf.org is coming in June. Functionality includes the addition of the next Study Calendar and Group/Classroom Placement.

        Alerts

Be sure to click on the gold bell for current Alerts (formerly called Banner Announcements) on mybsf.org! Watch for the Known Issues List that is updated weekly.

        Using Find a Person

Use the Find a Person tab to locate someone who is not currently in your class. Enter the minimal amount of information in the Find a Person search options, such as one initial and the person’s email address. This will help you find the person you’re looking for quickly! The best way to find someone who is already in your class is to go to Class > Class Composition > Manage Members.

        Need to Know

Be sure to read across all positional buttons related to your class.

Modified Roles of the CS and Asst. CS

In Preschool and School Programs, the Children’s Supervisor has carried significant responsibility. The addition of online classes and meeting options has added more responsibility. As a result, we recognize the need to provide additional CS leadership help through the Asst. CS! With the launch of the next study will come new role descriptions as follows.

        • Children’s Supervisors

Every CS oversees the School Program or Preschool Program as an advocate, team builder, and administrator.

        • Asst. Children’s Supervisors

Every Asst. CS supports the CS as an advocate, team builder, and administrator.

CSs should delegate responsibilities as needed to share the workload with one or more Asst. CSs. Please communicate these expectations of the Asst. CS before recommitment for next year. Note: Only the CS will serve on the Class Staff.

Additionally, the Assistant Children’s Supervisor will have an official new acronym – ACS – however, there will be a period of transition where both terms will be found in BSF resources.

All School Program Asst. CSs will receive training through the MyBSF Learning after the June Launch.  “Next Layer” training for Preschool CSs is in development as well and will be announced later.

        Inspiration

God Connects Leaders in Times of Need

I have been a member of BSF since 2013 and a leader since 2020; I am in awe and amazed at God’s care for me as He provides companions and fellow believers from BSF, in all roles, to walk alongside me and remind me that He is here with me.

He uses the platform of BSF Online, and its ease/flexibility to switch leadership groups, for His glory and to sanctify and grow me personally.

Just this past January, upon switching my leadership meeting to a time that better suited this season of life, God connected me in my time of need during a mental health struggle with a new leader who could directly speak into this need with practical and spiritual tools from His Word.

He sees me, He sees His Church, He is Lord overall! And He cares for us.
